Places to Eat in Atlanta
Whether you are moving to the area or just visiting, I thought I’d share some of my favorite places in Atlanta to eat or grab a quick treat. For those of you who do not know, I moved to Atlanta in December and have been living in Buckhead since May. I love living here so far and have a full list of restaurants and coffee shops that I want to try. I will continue to add to this section as I try more and more places! I hope this post is beneficial to you all if you are ever in the area.
Okay sushi lovers, I have found my all time favorite sushi spot in Atlanta. O-Ku is located at Westside Ironworks, 1085 Howell Mill Rd. NW A3, Atlanta, GA 30318 (Conveniently located by my other love, Barcelona Wine Bar.) O-Ku is an upscale, chic sushi & Japanese restaurant. I have seen people in everything from jeans and a cute top to business casual. The servers are knowledgeable of the menu and very friendly. I love trying new things when I come here, but there are a few items that I MUST recommend to you all. The Spicy Yellowtail Crunch is phenomenal (yellowtail, serrano, crispy rice and eel sauce). If there was only one item on the menu that I could select it would be the Yakiniku Wagyu which is seared wagyu beef with a bbq sauce & scallion on rice. I also enjoy ordering the Inada (young yellowtail, cilantro serrano, herb pesto and ponzu) and the Kani Truffle (snow crab, truffle butter, basil pesto.) The Salmon Citrus is also a popular one, however I am not a huge fan of citrus. This restaurant is perfect for a date night, family dinner or a place to grab dinner with your friends.
For those interested in the outfit I am wearing, I will link everything bellow!
Five Daughters Bakery
Ponce City Market
Five Daughters Bakery is located at Ponce City Market here in Atlanta. I recently tried it with one of my closest friends, Hope. We ordered the King Kong (Maple/Bacon) infused with a vanilla buttercream, the Malted Peanut Butter Cup with malted peanut butter buttercream & the Birthday Cake with colored vanilla buttercream and sprinkles. My mouth is watering just typing all of that! Call me crazy but I am not a huge donut fan. However, these donuts are D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S! They are extremely flavorful & sweet! Hope is what you would call a “donut connoisseur.” She knows anything and everything about donuts; where to get the best donuts and what flavors to order. Hope not only devoured her donuts but also licked the box clean (haha sorry Hope). Five Daughters Bakery has multiple locations, one being back home in 30A! Check them out on Instagram if you haven’t already; @five_daughters_bakery
Southern Gentleman is one of my favorite brunch spots here in Atlanta. They describe themselves as a “Chic New-American-meets-Southern” restaurant. There has not been one thing on the menu that has disappointed me yet. When it comes to brunch, I usually prefer to stick with what I know I like; omelettes, eggs, toast, sausage.. maybe even french toast every once in a while. However, if you come here for brunch, I am begging you to try the New Orleans Shrimp & Grits. This is coming from a girl who doesn’t even like grits! This meal is amazing! You can’t go wrong with anything on the brunch menu though. Also – don’t forget to treat yourself to a mimosa!
The atmosphere is cozy but upscale. If I go here in the evenings for a drink or live music I’ll wear a dressy romper and heels. For brunch I would do a maxi dress, sundress or a cute and casual outfit. Southern Gentleman is located at The Shops at Buckhead where there are multiple shops and restaurants surrounding it.
Barcelona Wine Bar
Inman Park & Westside Ironworks
Barcelona is my GO TO spot in Atlanta. Anytime I have friends or family visiting from out of time I take them to Barcelona. I have been to both locations (Inman Park & Westside Ironworks) and love the equally the same. I’ve noticed that the Inman Park location is usually busier and you will need a reservation. The atmosphere is so light and fun! The staff is very knowledgable of the food menu as well as the wine menu. My favorite way to order at a restaurant is to order a little bit of everything. This place serves tapas so of course I order a little bit of everything for the table! I think I can honestly say that I have ordered and tried all of the tapas on the menu. If you start with charcuterie + cheese I would suggest the Chorizo Picante which is a smoky, spicy sausage and the Drunken Goat (if available) which is a semi-soft goat cheese soaked in red wine. Ah! To-Die-For!
As for the tapas, you really cannot go wrong with any of them. I would highly suggest the asparagus, the hanger steak, wild mushrooms, scallops, crispy calamari and the Albondigas which are spiced meatballs. One of my top favorite tapas are these incredible fried cheese balls. I do not remember the name of them but if you say “I want the fried cheeseballs” they will know what you are talking about! Ha!
Jot this down: Monday’s are half off bottles of wine! My favorite wine here is called Penalolen; a Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon.
Barcelona is definitely a 10/10! Perfect place for a girls night out or a date night!
