All Things Hair and Extensions
Hello my beautiful friends! I am constantly receiving questions about my hair, hair extensions, and what products I use. So today on the blog, I am answering all your questions! Here we go…
Where do you get your hair done?
I have only ever trusted two hairdressers with my hair in my entire life. When I first moved to Atlanta, I did a lot of research before selecting a hairdresser. I fell in love with the fabulous Kate Barone after seeing her beautiful work on one of my all-time favorite bloggers, Macy Stucke.
At the time, I was struggling with hair thinning and wanted to look into getting hair extensions. Not necessarily for longer hair but to help make my hair feel full and healthy again. In February, I set up a consultation with Kate to discuss my specific wants and needs. At the consultation she was able to educate me on the type of extensions she works with, the pricing, the maintenance/care for the extensions and how many “pieces” she felt I needed to give me the desired look.
*If you are interested in extensions it is highly recommended that you schedule a consultation with Kate! Pricing varies depending on how much hair, hair color, size of head, etc. Kate can quote you a more accurate estimate in person rather than over the phone. Feel free to message them with any questions or concerns that you may have.*
What kind of extensions are they?
Micro-ring weft hair extensions
They carry bellami hair which is the type of hair I went with this time. It is a tad bit more expensive, but the quality is amazing.
What shampoo & conditioner do you use?
Pureology Shampoo and Conditioner
Don’t let the price tag scare you away! This shampoo and conditioner are absolutely worth it. They are sulfate-free which is vital for color-treated hair. They moisturize, volumize, and protect damaged, dry hair. These products are fabulous for all hair colors. I use the purple bottle which is specifically for color treated hair and hydration. The shampoo and conditioner both smell so good. Every time I wash my hair I feel like I just left the hair the salon.

Do you color your hair?
So yes and no. I got highlights my senior year of high school and hated them. I had the hairdresser change me back immediately. After that, I’ve always been scared to color my hair and have just enjoyed the natural highlights that the sun gives me in the summer time.
The cool thing about extensions though is that your hair dresser can color them over and over and you’re not actually messing up your real hair! First go around, Kate’s team matched my extensions to my hair perfectly. They even added swirls of light brown and blonde to give it dimension. I loved it! It looked like a natural balayage to me. This time, we switched it up and went with a rich dark brown. My hair looks so healthy and full.
What other hair products do you use?
Pureology 21 Spray – Created to prime, protect and perfect, this leave-in hair treatment spray provides color-treated hair with 21 essential benefits in one bottle; AntiFade Complex, hair detangler, heat protectant, hair smoothing treatment, etc.
Kenra Hair Spray (For a stronger hold)
Big Sexy Hair Powder Play (gives me so much volume)
How often do you wash your hair?
Y’all, I used to be able to go 3-5 days without washing my hair but as I get older my hormones are changing and so is my hair! I typically can go 2-3 days without washing it. I definitely do not wash it every day. My hair always styles better when it’s “dirty” vs. squeaky clean.
What do you use to straighten/curl your hair?
I love my babyliss straightner and I am obsessed with my new T3 convertible collection.
My babyliss straightner is the OG! It’s been with me since the 8thgrade. Thank you Rylee Hritz for introducing it to me back in the day!
Okay you guys, go ahead and put the T3 Convertible on your birthday/Christmas list. It is definitely worth every penny! I was skeptical about spending that much money on a curling tool especially when I already owned a wand that worked just fine. But I’m telling you, there is something magical about this wand! I can curl my hair faster, the curls last longer, and the curls are shinier and smoother. The iron is also less damaging than others and also heats up super fast. This curling iron/wand is a 10 out of 10. I may just have to do a giveaway in the near future 😉
