Poshmark
Okay! So I am always getting questions like, “where do you shop?” or “how do you afford that while in college?” So here is my secret…. Poshmark! I know what you are thinking, “I’ve downloaded it before and deleted it because I didn’t know how legit it was” and/or “I just knew I wouldn’t take the time to actually posting stuff on there!” Well, if you are going to have that mind set, then just get on out of here! LOL just kidding. Seriously let me help you. I downloaded Poshmark in 2014 and since then I have made $4,844.00 on there…simply selling my old, loved items.
Let’s begin! Simply go through your old clothes and anything that is still in good, wearable condition put aside for Posh. Designate a blank space with good lighting and snap a few pictures of each individual item. I also take close up pictures of details and tags. Upload them, give your post a heading and a detailed description and VOILA! Now you wait…. Remember to share you items frequently so that they stay fresh and updated on the app. Selling your first item is exciting. I have had so many girl friends call me like “Oh my gosh Ayla, I just sold my first item! What do I do next!?” First of all breathe! Second, freak out! Haha, totally kidding. What I usually do first, is fold up the item or items nicely, wrap them in tissue paper and write a little “thank you” note. Second, print the free shipping label that was emailed to you. Lastly, the post office provides free priority mailing boxes so simply place your items and card in the box, tape the label to it and mail it off! Once the buyer receives the item they will rate you and the funds will be released to you. You have the choice to use the funds as credit to shop on Poshmark or have it direct deposited to you.
Not only is selling on Poshmark fun, but buying stuff on there is pretty sweet too. True story: I purchased basically new Lululemon leggings on there for $45. NO LIE, 45 bucks! What a steal?! During my freshman year of college, I noticed every girl on campus wore Lululemon. At the time I didn’t really know what the brand was, I just knew it was cool and that I wanted to fit in! So I jumped on Postmark with my roommate and we started ordering Lulu left and right! After I wore my pieces a few times, I would put it back on Poshmark and then buy another piece. It’s like a little system or game for me. I buy something for a good deal, wear it a few times and then re-sell it! This is how I always keep my closet fresh!
Another fun fact about Poshmark is that they authenticate items over $500. This is honestly how I got my Neverfull Louis Vuitton. A bag is ‘used’ the moment you buy it at the store, walk out and put all of your junk in it. So why not save a little money and buy your first Louis used? Who knows the difference!? Don’t get me wrong, it is fun going into the actual store and treating yourself to a shiny new gift every once in a while. Not to go into price details, but I basically got my Neverfull on Poshmark for half of what they are new. It is also in fabulous used condition, I couldn’t be happier. The best part is, when I’m ready to update it, I just put it back on Poshmark!
Tips:
*If you own any upscale name brand items, try to keep receipts or proof of authentication. That way when you go to sell it, you have proof for potential buyers.
*Look out for scammers! Sadly, they are there. Just be smart and keep all communication on the app and not through text or email.
*When taking pictures of items, display them in good lighting and in a non distracting area.
*When an item of yours sells, ship it ASAP. No one wants to wait two weeks to get something they paid for…not even you!
*Follow a ton of people and show them love by sharing their stuff. They will return the favor!
*Be patient.
Also, my Poshmark name is aylahumphrey if you want to check it out. I believe my sign up code is AYLAHUMPHREY and you will receive $5 free!
